Dana Winner presented to 70 UAS staff members about Internet Security and Safety. With over 40 years of experience in her field, Dana was able to shed insight into awareness for both staff and students to apply when using the Internet. She shared the importance of teaching students about security and safety under three areas; privacy, safe posting, and cyber bullying. Most people do not even realize that at some point they have been hacked and Internet related crime is on the rise. Dana stressed that as educators it is fundamental that we teach our students the risk they put themselves at when they use the Internet to share private data. While technology can be of great value, teachers have to share the importance of using technology as a tool.
