A Teachers Body: an interactive seminar
UAS continued with another professional development seminar with guest presenter Dr. Nowall Al-Sayegh, a physical therapist, on Tuesday, November 7th, for staff members. Dr. Nowall shared a wealth of knowledge about the teacher’s body and specifically focusing on the spine. Teachers learned the importance of how daily movements in the classroom like lifting a backpack, bending to speak to a student, or sitting in student furniture can affect the disc in our back and our core muscles. Dr. Norwall was able to give practical advice on how to fix common pain related systems, like bringing electronic devices up to our face level, getting up and moving every hour if sitting, or being aware of our shoes, carpeting, and how long we stand on our feet.
